Description
Muchigorou is a member of the Red Arrows Pirates, the crew that served under Baron Omatsuri. In the sixth One Piece film, Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island, he appears as one of the revived subordinates who reside on Omatsuri Island. Like all of the Red Arrows brought back by Lily’s powers, Muchigorou sports a small sprout on his head, a visible sign of his unnatural reanimation.
Muchigorou’s personality is notably naive and pure-hearted. This trait is most evident during the first trial of Hell, the goldfish-scooping challenge, when Usopp easily deceives him with outlandish lies. Muchigorou accepts these falsehoods without suspicion, demonstrating a trusting and somewhat childlike nature. His primary role in the story is to serve as an obstacle for the Straw Hat Pirates; he oversees the first trial, in which the crew must capture his giant pet goldfish, Rozalio. Muchigorou initially succeeds in scooping Rozalio himself, but Robin and Chopper’s coordinated attack stops him, leading to his defeat.
His motivations are simple: he follows Baron Omatsuri’s orders without question, acting as a loyal subordinate. After being defeated, Nami attempts to question him that night, but he suddenly withers and dies, reverting to a dried plant-like state. Later, when Lily is fed again, Muchigorou is revived once more, only to turn back into a plant root after Lily’s death, along with the rest of the revived Red Arrows. This cycle of death and revival underscores his lack of true agency—he exists only as a tool of the Baron’s scheme.
Beyond his connection to Baron Omatsuri, Muchigorou’s key relationship is with his giant goldfish Rozalio, which he treats with care. His notable ability is not a personal combat skill but rather his command over this colossal fish, which serves as the centerpiece of the trial. No other special powers or fighting techniques are attributed to him in the film. Muchigorou remains a minor supporting antagonist whose simple personality and tragic, impermanent existence contribute to the eerie atmosphere of Omatsuri Island.
