Description
Kojō Akatsuki began as an ordinary high school student on Itogami Island. His life transformed irrevocably during the Fairy's Coffin incident when he intervened to protect his sister Nagisa and the young vampire Avrora Florestina from a terrorist attack. Mortally wounded, he became Avrora's blood servant—a pseudo-vampire—to survive. Avrora subsequently commanded him to destroy both her and the entity "Root," transferring her powers and selecting him as her successor. This metamorphosis elevated him to the Fourth Primogenitor, the world's strongest vampire, yet erased all memories of these events for years. Attempts at recollection triggered intense headaches, and only fragments surfaced during conflicts, such as his battle against the third primogenitor Giada disguised as Avrora. His memories were ultimately restored through a ritual conducted by Yukina Himeragi.

Prior to his vampirism, Kojō exhibited exceptional athletic prowess, particularly in basketball during middle school. He led his team to a city championship, earning MVP honors, but his dominance fostered excessive reliance from teammates. An injury during a game exposed their inability to perform without him, prompting his departure from the sport. This experience instilled a lasting reluctance to stand out or exert full effort, shaping his initial resistance to embracing his vampiric powers for fear of overshadowing others again.

Kojō possesses dark silver-blue hair and blue eyes that shift crimson when emotionally agitated or vampirically aroused. His fair skin stems from sunlight avoidance, though daylight poses no physical harm. He typically wears Saikai Academy's uniform: a white button-up shirt, black pants, a blue undershirt, and a white hoodie. His physique is well-toned and muscular, often hidden beneath layers of clothing.

His personality balances kindness, empathy, and a carefree attitude with a fiercely protective instinct, especially toward Nagisa. Beneath this laid-back exterior lies a volatile temper ignited by mockery or threats to loved ones. He demonstrates strong leadership and tactical intelligence in crises, traits often masked by his habitual reluctance to overexert. Largely oblivious to romantic attention from multiple women due to his "siscon" fixation on Nagisa—though this evolves—his moral compass drives him to confront supernatural threats despite desiring normalcy, frequently resulting in destruction.

As the Fourth Primogenitor, Kojō commands twelve familiars, manifestations of his vampiric power tied to zodiac constellations. They initially refused obedience until he consumed human blood, accepting him as master:
- Mesarthim Adamas (diamond manipulation)
- Cor Tauri-Sucinum (lava and tectonic control)
- Al-Meissa Mercury (spatial consumption)
- Natra-Cinereus (mist generation and intangibility induction)
- Regulus Aurum (electromagnetic energy)
- Minelauva Iris (causality manipulation)
- Kiffa Ater (gravity-controlling demonic sword)
- Shaula Viola (poison and magic absorption)
- Al-Nasl Minium (sound wave manipulation)
- Dabih Crystallus (mental and spiritual control)
- Sadalmelik-Ablus (phenomenon reversion and conceptual erasure)
- Alrescha Glacies (water manipulation and absolute-zero temperatures)
He also possesses standard vampiric traits: superhuman strength, speed, regeneration, immortality, and enhanced senses. His "Cleansing" ability enables localized reality warping. Later developments include shikigami summoning via talismans and precognition triggered by temporal loops.

Kojō's arc centers on accepting his role. Initially, he avoids using his powers, fearing their destructive potential and the accompanying responsibility. His evolving relationship with Yukina Himeragi—originally his observer and potential executioner—proves pivotal; her trust and sacrifices motivate him to proactively protect Itogami Island. Key developments include gaining control over his familiars by drinking blood from allies like Yukina and Sayaka Kirasaka, confronting figures from his past like Yuuma Tokoyogi, and reclaiming Avrora's legacy. His journey culminates in the "Holy War" arc, mastering his abilities without blood consumption and solidifying alliances with other primogenitors. By the series' conclusion, he fully embraces his identity, marrying twelve women including Yukina, Asagi Aiba, and Avrora, and fathers children such as Reina with Yukina.
