Live action TV
Description
Freddie is a student at Cromartie High School whose most defining characteristic is his nearly uncanny physical resemblance to Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the band Queen. His real name is unknown; fellow student Takashi Kamiyama gave him the nickname "Freddie" simply based on this appearance. In the live-action film, Freddie is portrayed by actor Hiroyuki Watanabe.

Freddie is a silent and enigmatic figure who never speaks, leading many to assume he is mute. However, despite this silence, he possesses a very good singing voice, and the only times his voice is ever heard is when he sings. He particularly enjoys performing songs by Queen. Freddie is a formidable fighter with top-notch combat skills, capable of easily defeating multiple opponents. He is considered one of the three major powers among the first-year students, alongside the gorilla and Yutaka Takenouchi. Despite his strength, he is portrayed as being extremely unintelligent, living almost by instinct, and is even described as being dumber than the gorilla in certain situations. He also travels with his own theme music.

Freddie's role in the story is that of a powerful and iconic, yet largely silent, presence within the school's delinquent population. Fellow student Shinjiro Hayashida once claimed that as long as Freddie attended Cromartie, the school would be the "Olympics for delinquents," implying that any hope of reforming the school would be impossible while he remained undefeated. His key relationships are mostly observational, as he is a figure acknowledged and nicknamed by Kamiyama and commented on by other characters like Hayashida. There is no significant development for Freddie; he remains a static, mysterious force. One of his most notable quirks is his mode of transportation: he rides to school on a large, intelligent, and powerful black horse named Black Dragon, a reference to the horse Kokuoh from Fist of the North Star.
