Description
Naoto Matsuzaka is a descendant of an ancient civilization and one of the twelve chosen warriors known as the Gransazers. He awakens as Sazer-Tawlon, the warrior representing the sign of Taurus and the leader of the Earth Tribe. Before his powers manifested, Naoto was a highly skilled and renowned martial artist who had achieved great success in combat. He eventually retired from the spotlight and turned to teaching younger students the discipline of self-defense, a role that allowed him to pass on his knowledge but also kept him at a distance from others.
In personality, Naoto is intensely individualistic and self-reliant. He holds a personal philosophy that true strength is forged in solitude, and he initially prefers to train and live in isolated places where he can focus solely on his own growth. This makes him appear aloof and detached, even among his fellow warriors. He is confident in his abilities, strong-willed, and decisive, but his solitary nature often puts him at odds with the concept of teamwork. Despite this, he possesses a strong sense of purpose and an underlying commitment to protecting the Earth.
Naoto’s primary motivation is to become stronger, partly as a personal goal and partly to fulfill his duty as a Sazer. Over the course of his journey, he gradually learns that isolation has its limits and that true power comes from trusting and cooperating with others. This development is most evident in his interactions with his Earth Tribe teammates, Ran Saotome and Gou Kamiya, whom he initially keeps at arm’s length but eventually comes to rely on. He also engages with the leaders of other tribes, learning to set aside his lone-wolf tendencies for the greater good of the twelve warriors united against alien threats.
As Sazer-Tawlon, Naoto wears yellow armor with a bull motif, reflecting his astrological sign. His primary weapon is the Bull Cannon, a pair of cannons that materialize on his shoulders. With these, he can fire powerful energy blasts, culminating in his signature attack, Matador Burst, a concentrated charged shot capable of devastating enemies. His suit grants him superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to jump up to 18 meters vertically and 90 meters horizontally. He uses a Knuckle Riser device to transform, summon his weapon, and communicate with other Sazers. When the Earth Tribe combines their powers, Naoto can pilot their giant mecha, the ChouSeishin GanSiser, and can equip it with a larger version of his Bull Cannon through the Sazer-Gear function. Through his growth from a solitary fighter to a trusted leader, Naoto Matsuzaka embodies the strength of the Earth Tribe and the importance of unity among the Gransazers.
