Description
In the special Kamen Rider Ryuki Special: 13 Riders, Kamen Rider Odin appears as a significant figure, representing the thirteenth and most powerful participant in the Rider War. The character does not have a fixed human identity in this narrative; instead, Odin is a puppet created and directly controlled by Shiro Kanzaki, the architect of the Rider Battle system. The suit is typically worn by an individual selected by Kanzaki, often an unsuspecting or vulnerable person such as a homeless man, who loses their own will and becomes a mindless vessel upon transformation. The core personality exhibited by Odin is therefore not that of the wearer but a cold, methodical, and silent extension of Kanzaki’s own determination, serving as an emotionless enforcer of the war’s rules.
Odin’s primary motivation is to act as Shiro Kanzaki's trump card, ensuring that the Rider War proceeds according to plan and that Kanzaki ultimately obtains the wish to save his sister, Yui Kanzaki. As the self-proclaimed final rider, Odin’s role is to be the last obstacle for any surviving Rider, eliminating them to grant Kanzaki his desired outcome. In the special, Odin’s function is to confront the main Riders, Kamen Rider Ryuki and Kamen Rider Knight, demonstrating overwhelming force to eliminate them from the conflict. A key moment in the special is when Odin seizes Ryuki’s card deck and destroys it, effectively stripping Shinji Kido of his ability to transform and fight, showcasing his role as a direct agent of Kanzaki’s will. Unlike other Riders who may have personal goals or evolving moral codes, Odin displays no personal development, as he is a static instrument with repeated incarnations; if one Odin is destroyed, Kanzaki can simply create another one to continue the fight.
The relationship between Odin and other characters is purely functional and antagonistic. Odin has no personal connections with Riders like Ryuki or Knight, seeing them solely as obstacles to be removed. His most significant relationship is with his creator and master, Shiro Kanzaki, to whom he is utterly subservient. Furthermore, part of his existence is tied to the protection of Yui Kanzaki, acting as her guardian within the Mirror World. His connection to his Contract Monster, Goldphoenix, is also purely instrumental, representing the pinnacle of Mirror Monster power and serving as his primary source for devastating attacks.
Character development is nonexistent for Odin, as he is a static, recurring entity. The character’s presence highlights a narrative development for the heroes, as they are forced to confront an enemy that is not only overwhelmingly powerful but also a disposable tool that cannot be reasoned with or permanently defeated through conventional means. The defeat of an incarnation of Odin does not end the threat, as Kanzaki can simply select a new host, perpetuating the cycle of the Rider War.
Notable abilities set Odin apart from all other Riders, as his parameters are deliberately the highest of all thirteen combatants to ensure victory. Standing 205 centimeters tall and weighing 100 kilograms, he possesses a punching power of 350 AP, a kicking power of 500 AP, and can jump 50 meters high. His signature ability is Time Vent, a unique Advent Card that allows him to reverse the flow of time, an act that can reset battles or undo unfavorable events. He can teleport instantaneously across the battlefield and generate explosive golden energy feathers, both abilities that do not require an Advent Card. His Goldvisor, a staff-like visor, holds his Advent Cards and can be equipped with all three Survive cards, a state that reportedly renders him immortal. Odin’s Contract Monster is the colossal and powerful Goldphoenix, which can be summoned with the Advent card. Through his Sword Vent, he wields the twin Goldsabers derived from the monster’s wings, and with his Guard Vent, he uses the Goldshield for protection. His Final Vent is a devastating attack known as Eternal Chaos, where Goldphoenix lifts Odin in its talons and hurls him, engulfed in flames, at his target.
