Description
Orochi no Dōji is one of the two principal lieutenants of the colossal Makamou Orochi in the film Kamen Rider Hibiki and the Seven War Demons. He operates alongside his female counterpart, Orochi no Hime, as a leader of the Makamou faction known as the Chiguruma-tō, which dominates a village during the Sengoku period and forces its people to offer human sacrifices to Orochi each year. He is stationed in the fortress Kiganjō, which rests offshore beneath the sea and surfaces only when tributes are brought to the coast. When he appears before the villagers, he typically keeps the left half of his face concealed behind a red mask and wears ornate Japanese garments; when he enters serious combat, he covers his entire face with the mask in a dedicated battle form. The official record of his appearance is filtered through the imagination of the modern-day Asumu as he reads an ancient document, so his true appearance in the past may have differed from what is shown.

His personality is ruthless and uncompromising. He treats the sacrifice system as an unshakable order of the world and deals with defiance immediately, as shown when he kills the father of a village girl named Suzu after the man tries to rescue her from being offered to Orochi. He is also pragmatic and cautious in his methods. After an early confrontation with the Oni warriors nearly ends in a stalemate, he withdraws and later recruits the Oni-hunting Makamou Hitotsumi as a hired bodyguard to protect the faction from further interference. In battle, he relies on more than simple strength: he can transform into a will-o'-the-wisp-like form to travel through the air, call forth bursts of flame from beneath the ground, direct squads of masked Makamou ninja under his command, and fight with a war fan as well as a katana at his waist. When fighting alongside Orochi no Hime, both cloaked in a green malevolent aura, he proves a match for the assembled Oni until the technique is dispelled.

His role in the story escalates steadily. Early on, he oversees the delivery of sacrifices and suppresses any resistance from the villagers. When the Oni begin to gather and challenge Orochi's rule, he confronts them directly and manages to hold his ground before vanishing once the demonic aura around him is cleared. His final confrontation comes when the Oni Hibiki interferes with Orochi's feeding and the young woman Hitoe is set to be sacrificed. Orochi no Dōji appears with Orochi no Hime, summons his ninja forces, and assumes his full battle form to intercept the arriving warriors. During the ensuing fight he is matched against the Oni Todoroki, who shatters his sword and defeats him with the sound-based technique known as Raiden Gekishin, ending his role as the commander of the blood-crazed demon league. Throughout the film he shows little personal change, remaining a steadfast and calculating servant of Orochi whose authority is broken only by his defeat at the hands of the gathered Oni.
