Description
Kikaijin Wanida is a character from the television series Kamen Rider Stronger, serving as a monster antagonist created by the evil organization known as Black Satan. Wanida is an alligator-themed cyborg, designated as one of the organization's Kikaijin, a race of mechanical monsters designed to carry out their plans for world domination.
Wanida's background is firmly rooted in his role as an operative of Black Satan. He is introduced as the manager of a restaurant chain owned by the organization. The purpose of this establishment is not to serve food, but to distribute Satan Bugs to unsuspecting customers. These parasitic insects are inserted into the meals, and once ingested, they take control of the host's mind, turning them into puppets for Black Satan. In terms of personality, Wanida appears to be a methodical and cunning strategist. Rather than relying on brute force alone, he prefers an insidious approach, using a seemingly ordinary business as a front to enslave the populace through deception.
Wanida's primary motivation, like other members of Black Satan, is to serve the organization's goal of conquering the world. His specific scheme involves using his restaurant to spread the Satan Bugs on a large scale. This plan directly puts him into conflict with the protagonist, Shigeru Jo, the alter ego of Kamen Rider Stronger. Wanida's role in the story is that of a direct adversary. He personally oversees the plan and confronts Kamen Rider Stronger when his scheme is threatened. During this confrontation, he attempts to use a Satan Bug to hypnotize Shigeru Jo, forcing the hero to try and harm his ally, Yuriko Misaki. This act establishes him as a significant threat, one capable of attacking the hero psychologically by turning his own strength against his companions.
Key relationships for Wanida are defined by his allegiance to Black Satan and his opposition to Kamen Rider Stronger. He is one of many Kikaijin serving under the organization's leaders, such as the general Titan. His most important dynamic is with the hero, Shigeru Jo, as their battle forms the climax of his episode. After Kamen Rider Stronger breaks free from the hypnosis, Wanida is defeated in combat. He is ultimately destroyed by the Rider's signature finishing move, the Stronger Electro Kick. The character has little room for development, as he appears in a single episode as a monster-of-the-week. However, a remnant of his existence appears later in the series; his empty husk is discovered by Shigeru and Yuriko in a hidden graveyard for Kikaijin located within a Black Satan base.
Regarding his notable abilities, Wanida's design as an alligator cyborg grants him several specific powers. He possesses immense jaw strength, described as an iron jaw capable of chomping through solid walls. His most prominent weapon is his giant metallic tail, which he can swing with enough force to sever limbs. Furthermore, being based on a semi-aquatic reptile, he is also an adept swimmer. These physical attributes make him a formidable opponent in direct combat, blending the natural predatory traits of an alligator with the destructive power of a machine.
