Description
Hasami-Jaguar is a kaijin, or monster, from the Destron organization, serving as one of the primary antagonists in the opening narrative of Kamen Rider V3. As a Mechanical Army monster, he is a synthetic being created through a fusion of black magic and technological science, designed to carry out Destron's plans of global domination and the elimination of their enemies. His physical appearance is a blend of animal and weapon, taking the form of an anthropomorphic jaguar with a red-orange body. The left side of his torso is covered in metal with tubes, and he has dark blue hair with two metal horns on his head. His most defining and dangerous features are the large scissor blades that replace his hands.
Hasami-Jaguar's background is intrinsically linked to the origin story of Kamen Rider V3. He is the monster directly responsible for the tragic event that fuels the hero's quest for vengeance. While disguised as a priest, Hasami-Jaguar infiltrated the home of Shiro Kazami, the man who would become V3, and brutally murdered Shiro's father, mother, and younger sister. This act of violence serves as the catalyst for the entire series, transforming Shiro's life and setting him on the path to becoming a cyborg hero. Prior to this, Hasami-Jaguar was also involved in other Destron operations, including an atomic bomb scheme that Shiro and a young woman named Junko Tama had accidentally stumbled upon.
In terms of personality, Hasami-Jaguar embodies the cruel and sadistic nature of Destron's forces. He displays a complete lack of value for human life, murdering without hesitation or remorse. This is evident not only in the cold-blooded killing of Shiro's family but also in his earlier actions, such as stabbing a Destron combatman in the back to prevent him from revealing information to the enemy. He is also shown to be cunning and deceptive, effectively using his human disguise as a priest to blend in and manipulate situations. However, he possesses a degree of arrogance and overconfidence, as he foolishly reveals Destron's secret plan to destroy Tokyo with a nuclear bomb, believing his victory to be assured.
Hasami-Jaguar's role in the story is that of a direct and personal antagonist to Shiro Kazami. He is the first major monster that the newly christened Kamen Rider V3 must face. After murdering Shiro's family, his attempts to kill Shiro and Junko are thwarted by the original Kamen Riders, Kamen Rider 1 and Kamen Rider 2. In the ensuing battle, Shiro is gravely injured, leading to his transformation into V3. Hasami-Jaguar then becomes the target of V3's vengeance, and their conflict spans the first two episodes of the series. His primary motivation is to serve Destron loyally by eliminating threats, particularly the Kamen Riders, and ensuring the success of the organization's schemes.
Key relationships for Hasami-Jaguar are primarily adversarial. His most significant connection is with Shiro Kazami, whom he personally wronged and who ultimately destroys him. He also directly engages in combat with Kamen Rider 1, Kamen Rider 2, and finally Kamen Rider V3. He has a subordinate relationship with the leadership of Destron, serving under Doctor G, and commands groups of Destron combatmen in battle. He also has a brief but notable interaction with Tobei Tachibana, an ally of the Kamen Riders, whom he attempts to kill but is stopped by the arrival of V3.
Hasami-Jaguar does not undergo any significant development, as his role is confined to being a formidable early obstacle for the hero. His sole narrative purpose is to be the agent of tragedy that creates V3 and then to be vanquished by him, demonstrating the power and resolve of the new hero. His defeat comes at the hands of V3's finishing move, the V3 Kaiten Nidan Kick, after which he explodes on a bridge.
Regarding notable abilities, Hasami-Jaguar's primary weapons are the scissor blades on his arms. He can use them individually to slash or stab opponents, and crossing them together allows him to use them as a giant pair of scissors, a move he uses to make V3 fall off a bridge. A unique and terrifying aspect of his bladed attacks is that any victim stabbed by them will completely dissolve away. He also possesses the ability to burrow through the ground, which he uses to ambush targets. His most deceptive ability is his power to disguise himself as a human priest, allowing him to move freely among people and hide his true monstrous nature.
