Description
Go-Zazaru-Ba is a fictional character from the Japanese television series Kamen Rider Kuuga. She is a member of the Gurongi, a violent ancient tribe, and belongs to the Go Group, which is the highest social class among her kind. Identified by modern police as Unidentified Lifeform Number 43, she possesses the qualities of a scorpion.
In her human-like form, Go-Zazaru-Ba appears as a young woman with a languid and somewhat decadent atmosphere. She typically wears a purple jacket and a leather mini-skirt, and despite her seemingly lazy demeanor, she has a very short temper and is easily agitated. This contradiction in her personality is notable; her relaxed attitude is believed to be a sign of immense self-confidence in her own lethal abilities, but she becomes angry quickly when something displeases her. She has been observed carrying a fan and takes great care in painting her nails with ten different, vivid colors.
The core motivation for Go-Zazaru-Ba, like all Gurongi, is to carry out a ritualistic killing game known as a Gegel. Her specific game is characterized by a complex and bizarre set of rules that she devised herself. She is tasked with killing people who are inside moving boxes, a term that includes taxis, elevators, and buses, following the specific color order of the nail polish on her fingers. This rule-based murder spree defines her role in the story, as the protagonist, Kamen Rider Kuuga, and the police work to decipher her pattern and stop her. She is a cunning strategist; when the police disrupted her initial attacks on taxis, she quickly adapted her targets to elevators and buses to continue her game.
Her key relationships with other characters are marked by conflict and arrogance. She directly confronts a fellow Gurongi named Zu-Gooma-Gu, openly calling him weak, which leads to a physical fight between them. She also ignores warnings from another ally, Ra-Dorudo-Gu, who advises her not to underestimate humans, a mistake that led to the defeat of a previous Gurongi named Go-Bemiu-Gu. These actions demonstrate her hubris and her contempt for those she considers beneath her.
In terms of development, Go-Zazaru-Ba remains a confident and deadly antagonist throughout her appearance. She does not undergo a redemptive arc but instead escalates her plans, eventually setting her sights on a train to maximize her kill count. Her downfall comes not from a change of heart, but from the combined intelligence of the police, who develop specialized ammunition to counter her abilities, and the superior tactics of Kamen Rider Kuuga.
The most notable and dangerous ability of Go-Zazaru-Ba is her powerful red bodily fluid, an extremely strong acid that can dissolve even platinum. She channels this acid through her primary weapon, a set of hook-shaped claws that are transformed from her earring. In combat, she can stab an enemy with these claws and inject the acid, or flick her wrist to spray corrosive droplets over a wide area, which is capable of melting human flesh and metal instantly. The gas produced by the acid as it dissolves matter is also highly toxic. This acid is highly flammable, and destroying her body in a normal way would cause a catastrophic explosion, spreading the acid over a large area. Because of this extreme danger, a specific plan was required to defeat her; Kamen Rider Kuuga had to use a specialized vehicle, the BeatGouram, to force her into an underground facility where she could be destroyed safely with a long-range attack from his Rising Pegasus form. Her physical body is also incredibly resilient, allowing her to survive direct kicks from Kuuga's Mighty and Dragon forms.
