Description
"RG Veda" is a fantasy manga series set in a mythical world inspired by Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. The story begins with a prophecy foretelling the downfall of the tyrannical god-king Taishakuten, who rules the celestial realm of Tentei. The prophecy states that a child born under a specific celestial alignment will gather six stars—warriors destined to overthrow Taishakuten's oppressive regime. This child is revealed to be Ashura, a mysterious and androgynous figure with immense power, who is discovered sealed in a tree by Yasha, a stoic and skilled warrior from the Yasha clan.

Yasha becomes the first of the six stars, pledging to protect Ashura and fulfill the prophecy. Together, they embark on a journey to gather the remaining stars, each of whom possesses unique abilities and tragic pasts. These include Kujaku, a flamboyant and enigmatic sorcerer; Ryuu-ou, a dragon king burdened by the loss of his kingdom; Soma, a gentle healer with a dark secret; Karura-ou, a fierce and vengeful warrior; and Kendappa-ou, a noble and loyal swordsman. As the group forms, they face numerous challenges, including battles against Taishakuten's forces and internal conflicts stemming from their own personal struggles.

Taishakuten, the primary antagonist, is a complex character driven by a desire for absolute power and control. His rule is maintained through fear and manipulation, and he is willing to sacrifice anything—including his own loved ones—to maintain his dominance. His wife, Kourin, and his loyal general, Souma, play significant roles in the unfolding drama, with Kourin harboring her own secrets and Souma torn between loyalty and morality.

The narrative explores themes of destiny, betrayal, and the cyclical nature of power. Ashura's true nature becomes a central point of tension, as it is gradually revealed that they are not merely a savior but also a harbinger of destruction. The prophecy's dual nature—bringing both salvation and ruin—casts a shadow over the group's mission, leading to tragic consequences for many of the characters.

As the story progresses, alliances are tested, and the line between hero and villain becomes increasingly blurred. The climactic confrontation between Ashura, Yasha, and Taishakuten reveals the full extent of the prophecy's implications, culminating in a resolution that is both poignant and bittersweet. The series concludes with a reflection on the cost of power and the enduring impact of choices made in the pursuit of justice and freedom.
