ViViD was a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in March 2009. The quintet consisted of lead vocalist Shin, guitarists Reno and Ryouga, bassist IV, and drummer Ko-ki. The band quickly signed with the influential indie label Indie PSC and released several independent singles and a mini-album before making their major label debut in January 2011 with Epic Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment.

The band is most widely recognized for their contributions to anime soundtrack music. Their major debut single, Yume Mugen no Kanata, was used as the ending theme for the anime series Level E. The single achieved a number six position on the Oricon weekly charts.

Following this success, ViViD secured the opening theme for a major long-running series. Their single BLUE served as the fourteenth opening theme for the anime Bleach, specifically for episodes 317 through 342. The single was released on July 13, 2011, and became the band's first top-five hit on the Oricon charts, debuting at number four. The songwriting credits for BLUE list Shin as the lyricist and IV as the composer, with the band collaborating with sound producer Takamasa Takumi on arrangement.

The band continued to build their anime portfolio in 2012. Their single REAL was used as an opening theme for the series Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. The single, which also served as a triple tie-up for the television program V no Ryugi and a commercial for dwango.jp, peaked at number six on the Oricon singles chart. In 2013, ViViD performed Hikari, which was utilized as the second opening theme for the anime Magi: The Kingdom of Magic.

ViViD described their own musical style as melodic mixture rock, a sound that blended elements of pop, rock, punk, metal, and rap into their compositions. Their first full-length studio album, Infinity, was released in June 2012 and included their previous anime theme singles. The album entered the top ten of the Oricon album chart. The band continued to release music until their official disbandment in 2015. Following the groups dissolution, lead vocalist Shin pursued a solo career.
