Description
MM Gakuen Gasshoubu, which translates to MM School Chorus Club, was a Japanese music group formed on April 4, 2009, as part of the Nice Girl Project! collective. The group was created specifically to promote the anime television series Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō and was active until the show concluded on April 10, 2011.

The group was not a traditional band but a project-based chorus unit assembled from members of other Nice Girl Project! groups. Its lineup drew primarily from two idol groups, THE Possible and Canary Club, with soloist Tokky joining in March 2010. Over time, several members graduated from the unit, including Ose Kaede from THE Possible in August 2009 and three members from Canary Club between March and September 2010. Mana Ogawa, a solo artist within Nice Girl Project! and a member of Canary Club, provided the main vocals for the group as she voiced the anime's protagonist, Kitagami Mimi.

The creative force behind MM Gakuen Gasshoubu was renowned producer Tsunku, who wrote and composed all of their songs under the pseudonym Nijuukyuu-sensei. Their music was released on the TN-mix label and distributed by Pony Canyon. The group's musical identity was intrinsically linked to the upbeat, energetic pop style characteristic of Japanese idol music produced by Tsunku, with songs serving as theme music for the accompanying anime series.

The group's discography is composed entirely of singles and albums tied to Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō. Their debut single, Mecha Mote I LOVE YOU, was released on May 20, 2009, and served as the first opening theme for the anime. The second single, Mecha Mote! Summer, followed on July 15, 2009, and was used as the second opening theme. A notable release came on October 21, 2009, with the double A-side single Daisuki ni Nare! / Kokoro Kimi ni Todoke. For this release, the group was credited as Kitagami Mimi (CV Ogawa Mana) with MM Gakuen Gasshoubu, with Daisuki ni Nare! serving as the second opening theme and Kokoro Kimi ni Todoke as the third ending theme. Subsequent singles include Genki ni Nare! (January 20, 2010), Kimi ga Shuyaku sa! / Kono Te no Naka ni (June 16, 2010), Mecha Motetai! (August 18, 2010), and Oshare My Dream / Elegant Girl (October 13, 2010).

The group also contributed to two soundtrack albums. Mecha Mote Iinchou Mecha Hit Kyokushuu 1 was released on March 3, 2010, followed by Mecha Mote Iinchou Mecha Hit Kyokushuu 2 on January 12, 2011. These albums compiled the group's theme songs alongside character songs and original soundtrack selections from the anime. In addition to their theme song work, MM Gakuen Gasshoubu performed the first ending theme for the series, Kirei ni Naritai.

MM Gakuen Gasshoubu holds specific significance as a promotional music project directly tied to a single anime franchise. Their formation illustrates a common practice in the Japanese entertainment industry where music groups are created specifically to support anime productions, leveraging the crossover appeal of voice acting and idol music. The involvement of Tsunku, a highly influential figure in Japanese pop music known for creating Morning Musume and the Hello! Project, lent considerable production credibility to the project. As the group concluded all activities immediately following the anime's final episode, their entire existence and output are permanently linked to Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō, making them a complete example of a media-mix project where music and animation were produced in tandem.
