Description
Hideaki Takatori is a Japanese singer, songwriter, and composer born in Tokyo on March 4, 1967. He is known for his extensive work in the anison genre, contributing theme songs to numerous anime and tokusatsu series. Takatori began his musical career as a member of bands such as WEATHER SIDE and COA before embarking on a solo career. A significant part of his musical identity is tied to his work with the band ZETKI (stylized as Z旗, meaning "Z flag"), where he performs as the vocalist under the name Taka. ZETKI is a jazz-influenced band whose lineup has included prominent musicians such as pianist Hiroaki Kagoshima, guitarist Satoshi Kawase, and a horn section featuring trumpet, trombone, and saxophone players.

Takatori's early solo work includes the opening theme "Hurricanger Sanjou!" for the 2002 Super Sentai series Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger. The same year, he performed the opening theme "Transformers ~Steel Courage~" for Transformers: Armada. In 2003, he performed the opening theme "Sonic Drive" for the anime Sonic X. The artist is also credited for the opening theme "Trust yourself" and the insert song "I go my way" for the 2006 anime Kinnikuman II: Ultimate Muscle 2, with both songs released on a single CD under his and ZETKI's name.

For the 2004 anime Desert Punk, Takatori and ZETKI performed the first opening theme song titled "Sand Mission," which was used for the first twelve episodes. Takatori also performed the first ending theme for the same series, "Sunabouzu Ekaki Uta," credited solely to himself.

Beyond vocal performances, Takatori is a prolific composer for other artists. He composed the opening theme "Alright! Heartcatch Precure!" for the 2010 anime Heartcatch Precure!, performed by Aya Ikeda. The recording of this theme featured the ZETKI horns as the backing brass section. As a composer and lyricist, his work extends to character songs for Super Sentai, such as "Orenjiiro Shita Nikui Yatsu," a song for the character Akira Nijino from Ressha Sentai ToQger, which was performed by Shin Nagahama with instrumentation by ZETKI. Takatori and ZETKI have also performed ending themes for Super Sentai, including "Shirokujimuchuu Shinkenger" for Samurai Sentai Shinkenger.

Takatori's musical identity is defined by high-energy rock compositions often complemented by the distinctive brass arrangements of ZETKI, creating a sound that is both powerful and dynamic. His industry significance is most pronounced in the Super Sentai franchise, where he has contributed as a performer, lyricist, and composer for over a decade, influencing the musical landscape of modern tokusatsu and anime theme music. His work bridges the gap between traditional anison and a more jazz-infused, big-band rock style, largely through his ongoing collaboration with the musicians of ZETKI. The band has continued to be active, performing cover versions of classic anime and tokusatsu songs on online platforms.
