Mitsuhiro Oikawa, born October 24, 1969 in Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese musician, singer-songwriter, composer, and actor who debuted as a recording artist in 1996 with the single Morality. He is a graduate of Seijo University’s Faculty of Law. Oikawa is affectionately known by fans as Mitchy and has cultivated a public persona as the Prince, a charismatic and dandy figure known for elaborate stage shows. He is signed to the Colourful Records label under King Records. Oikawa is also business partners with the talent agency Horipro, while his music activities are managed through his own arrangements.

Oikawa’s musical identity blends elements of pop, rock, and funk, with a performance style that emphasizes theatrical showmanship and glamour. He writes lyrics and composes music for many of his own songs. His body of work includes numerous studio albums such as Riron (1996), Uso to Roman (1998), Yokubou Zukan (1999), Seiiki (2001), Ryuusei (2002), Hikarimono (2004), Funkasia (2007), Rainbow-Man (2008), and Utsukushiki Bokura no Sekai (2010). He has also released several compilation albums, including Nihilism (1999) and the double-set Hikari and Hiro (2006). As a creator connected to anime works, Mitsuhiro Oikawa has contributed several theme songs, most notably to the Battle Spirits franchise. He performed the song GO AHEAD!!, which was composed by Takuo of the band GLAY, as an opening theme for the anime Battle Spirits: Shonen Gekiha Dan. He is also credited with writing the lyrics, composing the music, and performing the ending theme Kimi ga Matteru (Waiting for You) for the same series, Battle Spirits: Shonen Gekiha Dan. This specific track, Kimi ga Matteru, was later reused as an ending theme for the sequel series Battle Spirits: Brave, specifically for its fiftieth episode. The single for Kimi ga Matteru was released on October 21, 2009, and the song also appears on his 2010 album Utsukushiki Bokura no Sekai. The arrangement for the track was handled by Takano Rose.

Oikawa extended his work with the Battle Spirits franchise beyond Shonen Gekiha Dan and Brave. His song Kimi ga Matteru was featured again years later as an ending theme for Battle Spirits: Saga Brave, an original net animation series that was later broadcast as part of Battle Spirits: The Core Bearers in 2022. Additionally, he performed the song SAVE THE FUTURE!!, which was used as a theme for the anime Transformers Adventure. In 1999, he also contributed to anime as a voice actor, providing the voice of Akio Ohtori in the film Adolescence of Utena, the theatrical follow-up to the Revolutionary Girl Utena series. His significance in the industry stems from his dual success as a pop musician and a mainstream actor, making him a recognizable cross-media figure whose contributions to anime soundtracks are a noted part of his diverse career.
