Description
Boys and Girls Choir Mizuumi is a Japanese children's choral group known primarily for its work on anime soundtracks and children's music recordings. The group is credited as a vocal performer on several notable projects from the late twentieth century.

One of the choir's earliest known anime-related credits is for the 1987 original animated video Yoiko no Tanoshii Christmas. In this production, the group performed an insert song, providing the vocals for I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, which appears in episode eight of that release.

The choir also contributed to the tokusatsu and anime soundtrack for Ryuusei Ningen Zone. On the 1993 soundtrack album Natsukashi no TV Manga BGM Collection Ryuusei Ningen Zone Music File, the group is credited as Mizuumi Boys & Girls Chorus. In this release, they performed alongside vocalist Masato Shimon on the opening theme song Ryuusei Ningen Zone.

In the realm of animated film, the choir participated in the soundtrack for the Studio Ghibli film Whisper of the Heart. The concept album for the 1995 film credits Boy and girl choir Mizuumi with providing chorus vocals on multiple tracks, including Concrete Road and Baron's Song, as well as on the closing track Take Me Home, Country Road.

Beyond its soundtrack work, the group has a broader musical identity as a choir that performs original and arranged material. A 1975 album by the group, Umi and Ms. Yamanokami - A Story Not Seen Here or Even now, features the Boys and Girls Choir Mizuumi performing songs composed by Kohei Oikawa. This album is notable for its high-profile arrangers, which included Ryuichi Sakamoto and Tatsuro Yamashita, with the group Sugar Babe participating in the chorus. This recording illustrates the choir's connection to significant figures in Japanese popular music.
