Asuka Nishi is a Japanese artist whose musical output is closely tied to her voice acting career, particularly through her performance of character songs and anime theme music. Born on February 10, 1988 in Hyogo Prefecture, Nishi developed an early foundation in music during her middle and high school years, where she was a member of the brass band club and played the flute, eventually becoming the club's president. This musical background later translated into a career as a performer of anime-related music.

Nishi made her solo musical debut within the context of anime soundtracks in 2012 with the television series Ebiten: Ebisugawa Public High School's Tenmonbu. For this series, she is credited as the performer of several ending theme songs. These include Chikyuu ni I love you, which served as the first ending theme, as well as melos no you ni, Don't look back, and Sayonara Jinrui. In addition to these ending themes, she also performed the insert song Moe Romance for the same series. Her work on Ebiten also involved performing as part of the group Hoshi no Shoujo-tai, which included fellow voice actresses Iori Nomizu, Risako Murai, and Midori Tsukimiya. This group performed the opening theme song Mirai-iro no Yakusoku.

Beyond her solo work, Nishi is recognized for her contributions as a member of musical units formed for anime franchises. She is a member of Rhodanthe, a group formed for the anime series Kin-iro Mosaic. Within this group, which also includes voice actresses Manami Tanaka, Risa Taneda, Yumi Uchiyama, and Nao Toyama, Nishi performs under the name of her character, Shinobu Omiya. As part of Rhodanthe, she has performed theme songs including the series opening theme Jumping!! and the ending theme Your Voice, as well as numerous character songs. She was also part of a musical unit for the anime Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono, where she performed the character Yua Suzuki and contributed to the series theme songs Stand Up!!!! and 12 months.

Nishi began her career as a solo recording artist outside of anime character projects in 2016. She announced her solo singer debut in April 2016 and subsequently released her first solo single, Honey Face, on October 19, 2016. This single was released in multiple editions and charted on the Oricon weekly rankings at number 23. Her solo work also includes songs like Everyday for ever and Tresure Chest.

Her discography also includes contributions to character song collections for various anime series. She is featured on the track Peaky Wan-dafuru! from the Magical Girl Raising Project character song album Musica Magica, performing alongside Risae Matsuda and Satsumi Matsuda. As a voice actress who frequently portrays musical characters, she has also performed songs in the role of characters such as Yuriko for Mikagura School Suite. More recently, she performed as the character Mertillier on the song To the Most Beautiful Miracle of All for the multimedia franchise Memento Mori. Her musical identity is thus defined by her ability to perform across different fictional personas while also maintaining a presence as a solo J-pop artist.
