The TV anime "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" celebrates its 20th anniversary today, April 3rd, since its original broadcast. On this occasion, as part of the "Haruhi Suzumiya Thanksgiving" project, several new contents have been revealed, including a special illustration drawn for this event by Noizi Ito, who also illustrated the original light novel.
The illustration features the main characters of the series, including Haruhi Suzumiya, Kyon, Yuki Nagato, Mikuru Asahina, Itsuki Koizumi, Ryoko Asakura, and Tsuruya-san. Accompanying this, an approximately three-minute anniversary PV has been released, showcasing iconic scenes and dialogues from the anime set to the well-known theme songs "Bouken Desho Desho?" and "Hare Hare Yukai."
The five voice actors of the SOS Brigade – Aya Hirano (Haruhi), Tomokazu Sugita (Kyon), Minori Chihara (Yuki), Yuko Goto (Mikuru), and Daisuke Ono (Itsuki) – have also conveyed their congratulations for the anniversary in a video message.
An exhibition dedicated to the anime is planned for August in Tokyo. Furthermore, the Kadokawa figure brand KDcolle is releasing a new figure of Haruhi Suzumiya in a "20th Anniversary" version. Pre-orders are already available. Also available from today is a music box that plays the song "Hare Hare Yukai."
