On the official website for the anime adaptation of the second season of 86-Eighty Six, three additional cast members, a new key visual, the theme song performers, and a second promotional video were revealed today. The second season is expected to start on October 3.

The new cast includes:

- Misaki Kuno as Frederica Rosenfort

- Yuya Uchida as Ernst Zimmerman

- Asuna Tomari as Shiden Iida

The J-rock band amazarashi performs the opening theme "Kyoukaisen," which was heard in the previous promotional video. The J-rock band Regal Lily will once again perform the ending theme "Alchemilla."

It was already announced in May that the series will have a total of 23 episodes. Thus, the second season will consist of 12 additional episodes following the first 11.

Yen Press publishes the light novel series in English and describes the story as follows:

The Republic of San Magnolia has long been under attack by unmanned weapons from the neighboring Empire. To counter these attacks, the Republic has deployed similar weapons, narrowly averting massive human casualties and an impending catastrophe—or so it seemed.

The truth is that it was never possible to avoid losses. Young men and women from the supposedly non-existent 86th District of the Republic are organized into the "86th Unit" and then ordered to pilot the "unmanned weapons" before being sent into battle.
