The novel series by Yugo Aosaki, released in 2015, has garnered a dedicated fanbase. Set in the late 19th century, the story follows a detective known as the "Cage User" as he investigates the murder of a vampire's wife. The gripping premise suggests that it takes a monster to truly understand and solve a case involving other supernatural beings.

Haruka Tomoyama adapted the novel series into a manga, which debuted in 2016 in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius Magazine before moving to Nemesis Magazine and later the Comic Days website. With the third manga volume released in June 2018, the story has captivated audiences with its unique blend of mystery and supernatural elements.
