The manga "A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School!" by Mai Tanaka will be adapted into a TV anime in 2024. This announcement was accompanied by an original illustration by Mai Tanaka celebrating the upcoming anime adaptation.
The series tells the story of Haruaki Abe, a tearful and inexperienced new teacher who fulfills his dream of becoming a teacher, only to find out he has been assigned to Hyakki Academy, a school attended by various youkai (supernatural beings) from all over Japan. The series humorously depicts the life of Abe, who is surrounded and often overwhelmed by youkai students and colleagues, including characters like the mischievous pest deity Sano Mikoto and the otaku Zakuro Zashiki-warashi, who wears glasses.
The manga has been serialized in Monthly G Fantasy (published by Square Enix) and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2024. To celebrate the anime adaptation, the January issue of Monthly G Fantasy features a cover and a series of color pages showing the characters' reactions to the news of the anime adaptation.
