In Episode 12, the season finale of AI no Idenshi, Dr. Sudo makes the crucial decision to travel to Robisia to find the copy of his mother's neural network. Michi, the super-AI, proposes a deal to him: he should join Michi's upgrade examination committee, and Michi will help him locate the copy of his mother's neural network. Dr. Sudo agrees and undergoes shooting and self-defense training in preparation for his journey.


Risa, Dr. Sudo's assistant, is shocked and hurt by his sudden decision to leave. She feels even more alienated when Dr. Sudo refers to her as an "outsider" and explains that he doesn’t need her help for this personal mission. Despite her emotional turmoil, Risa has a conversation with another character who shares her own experiences as an outsider, helping her cope with her feelings.


Dr. Sudo decides to hand over his clinic to Dr. Seto, a friend from his student days. Dr. Seto is aware of the dangers in Robisia and questions Dr. Sudo's decision. He asks Dr. Sudo what he would do if he discovered that his mother's copy was involved in unethical activities. Dr. Sudo remains firm in his choice.


As Dr. Sudo is about to leave, Risa confronts him and asks him to promise three things: to return as soon as possible, not to do anything dangerous, and not to change no matter what he learns about his mother. Dr. Sudo agrees to her conditions and apologizes for calling her an outsider.


The episode ends with Dr. Sudo's departure for Robisia and Risa's tearful farewell. The narrative leaves the viewer reflecting on the role of AI in human progress and what humanity truly desires.
