The creative team behind the anime film Alice and Therese's Illusory Factory by Mari Okada and MAPPA has announced that renowned singer-songwriter Miyuki Nakajima will perform the film's theme song, Shin-on (Heartbeat). This marks Nakajima's first time lending her voice to an anime or game theme.

Despite her numerous contributions to anime soundtracks and as a songwriter for other artists, this is Nakajima's debut for an anime theme song. The collaboration between Nakajima and the Alice and Therese's Illusory Factory team came about through a personal request from Mari Okada in the fall of last year. Initially hesitant due to her unfamiliarity with the world of anime and games, Nakajima was convinced after reading Okada's script and subsequently developed Shin-on specifically for the film.

Alice and Therese's Illusory Factory is set to premiere on September 15. The film introduces viewers to the young protagonist Masamune Kikuiri (voiced by Junya Enoki), his classmate Atsumi Sagami (Reina Ueda), and the mysterious girl Itsumi (Misaki Kuno).

The story revolves around Masamune, a third-year middle school student living in a town where time seems to stand still following an explosion at a local steelworks. With all exits sealed and change forbidden, the residents lead a bleak, stagnant existence. A chain of events is set in motion when Masamune and his intriguing classmate Atsumi encounter a girl who is wild like a wolf and mute. This unexpected meeting throws their world off balance, sparking an unstoppable "impulse of love" that threatens to shatter their mundane reality.

Okada is not only responsible for the screenplay and direction but also the original work and novel adaptation of the film. The creative team also includes assistant director Tadashi Hiramatsu, character designer Yuriko Ishii, art director Kazuki Higashiji, and music composer Masaru Yokoyama, all of whom have previously collaborated with Okada. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros.
