“Mononoke: The Umbrella of Carnage” hits Japanese theaters on July 26th

The anime film "Mononoke: The Umbrella of Carnage" will officially hit Japanese theaters on July 26. A new teaser video featuring additional cast members has been revealed, further heightening fans' anticipation. Set against the grand backdrop of the Ooku, the inner chambers of Edo Castle, this brand-new episode tells the story of a medicine seller who enters the Ooku in search of a Mononoke, a traditional Japanese spirit.

This time, according to the subtitle, it revolves around a "Karakasa," an umbrella spirit who inherits the legacy of the medicine seller, dealing with various supernatural beings. The new cast includes Tomoyo Kurosawa as Asa, a young maid aspiring to a career in the Ooku, Aoi Yuki as Kame, another newcomer dreaming of the Ooku, and Mami Koyama as Utayama, the ruling elder of the Ooku. The second teaser begins with a woman's scream and introduces the depiction of the Ooku, centered around these three characters. The tormented dialogues of the maids create a tense atmosphere, showcasing the medicine seller's encounter with the Mononoke born from the swirling passions of the Ooku.
