Animation film Alice in Wonderland: Dive in Wonderland presents characters

For the upcoming theatrical release of the animated film Fushigi no Kuni de Arisu to -Dive in Wonderland- (Japanese original title; English: Alice in Wonderland: Dive in Wonderland), eleven character vignettes have been released. These provide insight into the modernized interpretation of the characters from Lewis Carroll's literary work.

At the center is Risse Azumino (voiced by Hara Nonoka), who unexpectedly finds herself in the fantasy world. There, she meets a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic Alice (voice: Maika Pü) as well as other inhabitants:

- The tech-savvy White Rabbit (Yamaguchi Kappei) with mobile gadgets

- The social media-active Caterpillar (Yamamoto Takahiro)

- The contrasting twin pair Tweedledee (Murabe Ayumu) and Tweedledum (Kimura Subaru)

- The dissatisfied Queen of Hearts (Matsuoka Mayu) with her naive card soldier

Other key figures

The vignettes also show:

- The eccentric Mad Hatter (Yamamoto Kōji) in a color conflict with the March Hare (Yashima Norihito)

- Humpty Dumpty (Kosugi Ryūichi) as the host of surreal tea parties

- The enigmatic Cheshire Cat (Morikawa Toshiyuki) with philosophical commentary

Production notes

The character vignettes combine visual redesign with original voice acting by the cast. The film adapts Carroll's source material under the direction of Watanabe Ayumu (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal), produced by Shin-Ei Animation. The plot follows Risse's encounters in Wonderland after her unplanned arrival.

The theatrical release in Japan is scheduled for August 29, 2025.
