Anime adaptation of "Akane Banashi" with main promotional video and new cast introduced

The production of an anime series based on the manga "Akane Banashi" (English title identical) by author Yuki Suenaga and illustrator Takamasa Umakami has been announced for April 2026. Alongside this announcement, the first official key visual as well as an extensive first main promotional video were released, which also revealed the voices of other main characters.

The story follows high school student Sakura Akane, who, after a formative childhood event, decides to follow in the footsteps of her father, a rakugo storytelling artist. Her stated goal is to achieve the highest master rank, the Shin'uchi ("true strike"). The series portrays her journey and the competitions in the world of this traditional Japanese storytelling art.
