The production of the TV anime for the action manga "BLACK TORCH" by Tsuyoshi Takaki is progressing. On December 10th, a new key visual and the first main trailer for the series were released, confirming a launch window for July 2026.

The new visual material shows the main characters Jiro Azuma, Rago, Ichika Kishimojin, and Reiji Kirihara. The first main trailer offers, alongside new animation, the first spoken dialogues of the characters.

The story follows Jiro, a descendant of ninjas, who possesses the special ability to speak with animals. His fate changes abruptly when he encounters an injured black cat, who turns out to be the legendary, powerful spirit creature (Mononoke) Rago. Through the connection with Rago, Jiro is drawn into a hidden war between humanity and threatening spirits and joins the secret government organization "Kuroi Tomoshibi" (Black Torch).

The central roles have been cast with established voice actors:

- Jiro Azuma is voiced by Ryōta Suzuki.

- Rago receives his voice from Yōji Ueda.

- Ichika Kishimojin is portrayed by Sayaka Senbongi.

- Reiji Kirihara is voiced by Junya Enoki.

The series is directed by Kei Umabiki. The character design is by Gō Suzuki, while Gigaemon Ichikawa is responsible for series composition and script. The music is composed by Yutaka Yamada. The animation is handled by the studio 100studio.

The original manga was created by Tsuyoshi Takaki between December 2016 and August 2018 in the magazine Jump Square and later on Shonen Jump+ and comprises five collected volumes.
