According to an official update, the anime series based on Bukimi Miki's manga "SHY" is set to premiere in October on TV Tokyo. Alongside this news, further details about the cast, staff, promotional material, and the artist behind the theme song have been revealed.

The series features a variety of characters: Nao Tōyama voices the character Iko Koishikawa, and Tomokazu Sugita plays Ebio, better known as Shrimpy. Other cast members include Mamiko Noto as Spirit, Shinichiro Miki as Stardust, Sayumi Suzushiro as Lady Black, Ayumu Murase as Mian Long, and Kikuko Inoue as Unilord. Shino Shimoji will portray the series' titular character, Shy, also known as Teru Momijiyama.

On the production side, Masaomi Andō will take the director's seat, with the series being produced at Studio 8-Bit. Kōsaku Taniguchi is credited as assistant director, and Yasuhiro Nakanishi will oversee the series' scripts. Yūichi Tanaka is in charge of the main character designs, while the music is composed by Hinako Tsubakiyama. The opening song, "Shiny Girl," is performed by MindaRyn.

"SHY" depicts a world where Earth narrowly avoids a third world war thanks to the emergence of superpowered individuals from around the globe. Among these peacekeeping heroes is the shy yet courageous Japanese representative, simply known as "Shy." Despite her apparent insecurities, Shy is determined to prove she has the heart of a true hero.

The series was first introduced to readers as a one-shot manga in the Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in January 2017. After receiving positive feedback, it was serialized in the same publication starting August 2019.
