Anime adaptation of "Flame Combat Ball Player Danji" announced

The official continuation of Koshi Tetuhiro's work "Flame Combat Ball Player Danpei" will be released in 2026 as an animated series. Under the title "Honō no Toukyūjo Danji" (Flame Combat Ball Player Danji), the project now presents a key visual as well as a first teaser video.

The story follows Danji Ichigeki, the daughter of the protagonist Danpei from the original series. The plot shows her efforts to carry on her father's legacy in the present and build a new top team in the combat sport "Combat Ball". Since the start of its serialization in 2022 on the platform Weekly CoroCoro Comic, the story has gained great popularity, especially on social networks. The first chapter preview recorded over 700,000 views. Currently, five collected volumes are available.

The released key visual shows Danji in front of her father's monumental tomb, her gaze determinedly fixed forward. The teaser video contains references to the original manga source material and illustrates the turbulent history of the sports discipline.
