The story of "Gimai Seikatsu" revolves around Yuta Asamura, who gains a stepsister, Saki Ayase, after his parents remarry during his high school years. Saki is the top student in her class. Due to their parents' influence, they both understand male-female relationships and agree to maintain a balance—neither being too confrontational nor too compromising—to avoid family discord. Saki, who yearns for familial affection, often tries to distance herself, leaving Yuta in a dilemma about how to be a suitable older brother. The narrative depicts the development of their relationship as they gradually grow accustomed to each other.
