Anime adaptation of "Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?" presents teaser material, cast, and team

For the upcoming anime adaptation of the romantic comedy "Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?" (English title: Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?), first visual impressions as well as key production details have been released.

The project is based on the manga of the same name by author Norishiro-chan and illustrator Sakana Uozumi, which has been serialized in the magazine "Monthly Comic Zenon" since 2021. The story follows the reserved high school student Takuya Seo, whose passion is the girls' anime "Kiramon".

A first official key visual as well as a short teaser video provide an early look into the series' atmosphere. The video shows scenes of interaction between the three main characters at school and also presents their characteristic voices.

The protagonist Takuya Seo, known as "Otaku-kun", finds himself by chance in the company of two seemingly opposite female classmates: the cool-appearing Kei Amane and the lively Kotoko Ijichi. Although they seem to belong to different social groups, the three gradually discover common interests and build a relationship with each other. The dynamic development of this friendship is at the heart of the plot.

The voices of the main characters are provided by established voice actors.

- Takuya Seo is voiced by Shou Komura. Komura describes the role as very relatable, as many viewers might see themselves in Takuya's passionate devotion to a hobby.

- Kei Amane, who flirts with her intelligent appearance but is not particularly enthusiastic about studying herself, receives her voice from Konomi Inagaki.

- Kotoko Ijichi, the communicative and caring side of the trio, is portrayed by Yuu Serizawa. Serizawa emphasized that the series portrays both stereotypes – "otaku" and "gyaru" – with much understanding and affection.

The animated adaptation is being directed by Arata Mita at TMS Entertainment Studio 6. Kazuhiko Inukai is in charge of series composition, while Lion Matsuda is responsible for character design and animation direction. The musical score is provided by Kou Satou.
