For the upcoming anime adaptation of the manga series The Barbarian's Bride (alternatively The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King), new promotional materials and a concrete start date have been released. A second, extensive trailer and a new key visual provide further insights into the plot and presentation of the series.
A significant part of the announcement concerns the expansion of the voice cast. Ten additional voice actors have been confirmed for the series.
Among the most well-known newly added voices is Hiroshi Kamiya, an experienced seiyū known for roles such as Levi Ackerman in Attack on Titan and Trafalgar Law in One Piece. Other newly announced voice actors are Miyu Tomita, Hisako Kanemoto, Ayaka Asai, Yusuke Kobayashi, Yurika Kubo, Koichi Soma, Yasuhiro Kikuchi, Chikao Otsuka and Yō Taichi.
The main roles of Serafina de Lavillant and King Veor are voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro and Satoshi Inomata, respectively.
The musical score for the series is composed by Arisa Okehazama. The opening theme "BEAUTIFUL" is performed by Mayu Maeshima, while the group sajou no hana contributes the ending theme "Shirubeki Koto" (approximately "What One Should Know").
The story follows Serafina de Lavillant, a powerful knight from a western kingdom, who is captured in a war against eastern tribes. Instead of being executed, she is given as a bride to the leader of the so-called barbarians, Veor.
To her surprise, Veor turns out not to be a brutal savage, but a charming and educated man who courts her affection. The series deals with Serafina's adjustment to her new life as she discovers the true intentions of her own kingdom and the peaceful nature of the supposed enemy.
The anime adaptation is produced by Studio Jumondou, with Takayuki Tanaka as director and Miya Asakawa responsible for the scripts. The series will air starting April 9, 2026.
The original manga by author and artist Noriaki Kotoba has been serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine since January 2021. The English-language version is published by, among others, Seven Seas Entertainment.
