The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess (Hikikomori Kyūketsuki no Monmon), a light novel series written by Kotey Kobayashi and illustrated by Richuu, will be adapted into an anime. The official website, which went live on Thursday, released the first trailer, main cast, production team, and a promotional image. The anime is being produced by animation studio Project No. 9, with Tatsuma Minamikawa as director, Keiichirō Ōchi as scriptwriter, Tomoyuki Shitaya as character designer, and Gō Shiina as music composer. The main cast includes Tomori Kusunoki as Terakomari Gandesblood, Sayumi Suzushiro as Villhaze, and Yōko Hikasa as Karen Helvetius. The release date has not yet been announced, but the film is expected to air in Japan later this year. A manga adaptation, also by Kobayashi and Richuu, has been serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan since December 2021 and has been compiled into one volume. The story follows the vampire Terakomari Gandesblood, who, after three years of seclusion, is appointed commander of the imperial Mulnite army, a unit of rebellious troublemakers. Despite her powerful vampire lineage, Komari's refusal to drink blood has left her weak and uncoordinated. Can her loyal maid Vill help her navigate this new world and succeed, or will Komari regret leaving the safety of her room?
