Anime adaptation of “Sentenced to Be a Hero” announced

The TV adaptation of "Sentenced to Be a Hero" has been officially announced and is set to delight fans of the popular light novel series. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a teaser image and a promotional video, revealing that Studio KAI will lead the animation production.

The story is set in a dark fantasy universe and revolves around the disgraced former paladin Zairo, who leads a unit of penalized heroes known as the Punishment Hero Squad 9004. This group of heroes, subjected to "Heroic Sentencing," becomes embroiled in a brutal confrontation with the forces of the Demon Lord. The narrative is renowned for its depth and complex portrayal of characters, weaving a tale of bravery, shame, and redemption.

The light novel series, praised by Rocket Company for its innovative take on the hero genre, will expand its reach with the release of its sixth volume on April 17. The second volume of the manga adaptation, brought to life by Natsumi Inoue's artwork, will be released on April 26, further heightening anticipation for the series adaptation.
