Anime adaptation of "Tōhai - Ura Route Mahjong Tōhairoku" announced

Pony Canyon has announced that the manga series "Tōhai - Ura Route Mahjong Tōhairoku" by Kōji Shinasaka will be adapted into a TV anime, scheduled to premiere later this year.

The upcoming anime is directed by Jun Hatori from EAST FISH STUDIO. Mariko Kunisawa is in charge of the series' scripts, while Sayaka Anesaki is responsible for the character design. The musical composition, which complements the visual experience, is a collaborative effort by Yūsuke Shirato and Yuki Kishida.

The anime's narrative promises to be thrilling. It centers around Kei, a high school boy known as "K of Ice" in underground mahjong parlors for his emotionless strategy and elegant play. The story revolves around the themes of money, women, and organs, painting a vivid picture of the underworld. Interestingly, rumors suggest that Kei has a girl living at his home, adding to his mysterious persona.

Kōji Shinasaka's work originally appeared in Akita Shoten's Young Champion magazine from 2006 to 2011 and was compiled into 12 volumes.
