The upcoming season will be part of the NUMAnimation programming block on TV Asahi, its 23 affiliate stations, and BS Asahi. To celebrate the announcement, Sakurai has created a celebratory illustration, highlighting the creators' ongoing commitment to the series.

The first season of the anime aired on April 1 on TV Asahi and its affiliated networks.

The second season will feature the return of the well-known cast from the first season: Shun Horie as Kyotaro Ichikawa, Hina Yomiya as Anna Yamada, Ayaka Asai as Chihiro Kobayashi, and others. Their performances in the first season significantly contributed to the portrayal of the characters and the development of the story.

The first season was directed by Hiroaki Akagi of Shinei Animation. The series scripts were supervised by Jukki Hanada, with character designs by Masato Katsumata. Kensuke Ushio was responsible for the music, creating a fitting atmosphere for the anime. Sakurai, the creator of the original manga, was credited for the original story.

The story follows Ichikawa Kyotaro, a socially awkward boy who sees himself as the protagonist of a psychological thriller. He secretly develops a crush on Anna Yamada, the class idol, and finds himself drawn into a fascinating world. However, the narrative reveals that Kyotaro's assumptions about himself and his classmates may not align with reality.
