"Dark Gathering", an anime adaptation of the manga by Kenichi Kondō, has announced its premiere date on the official website. It is scheduled for July 9 on Tokyo MX and will air later the same evening on BS Asahi and Kansai TV.

Yū Sasahara voices Yayoi Hōzuki, while Nobunaga Shimazaki portrays Keitarō Gentōga. Kana Hanazawa brings Eiko Hōzuki to life, and Rina Kawaguchi voices Ai Kamiyo.

Hiroshi Ikehata directs the project, bringing a fresh perspective to the story. His vision is complemented by the series scripts, supervised by Shigeru Murakoshi, and the character designs by Shin'ya Segawa. The musical score is provided by composers Kohta Yamamoto, Shun Narita, and Yūsuke Seo. Additionally, the series' theme song, "Haiiro" (Gray), is performed by Kana Hanazawa, adding an extra melodic touch to the series.

The plot itself is a mix of the supernatural and the personal. The protagonist, Keitarō Gentōga, possesses the unique ability to act as a spirit medium. An incident in junior high, which resulted in someone else being possessed by a spirit, led him to live as a recluse for over two years. However, when he returns to society as a tutor, he meets a gifted girl named Yayoi Hōzuki. Upon recognizing his mediumistic abilities, she invites him to a haunted location, and thus begins their journey to capture evil spirits.
