From July 19 to 20, 2026, the third edition of ANIME FANTASISTA JAPAN will take place at the Kichijoji Excel Hotel Tokyu in Tokyo. The event focuses on Japanese animation artists and their working methods, offering talk sessions, live drawing activities, and workshops. For the second time, renowned animator Honda Yu designed the official key visual.
On the first day, the ceremony opens at 11:10 AM, followed by a session with director Seigo Yamashita, who, together with animators Glanz So and Mise from Studio Chromat, discusses the short film "Super Kaguya-hime!" In the afternoon, a Creators Talk about "Trigun Stargaze" is scheduled, where concept artist Koji Tajima and 3D animators from Studio Orange provide insights into the production. This is followed by a conversation between Hiroshi Nishino (producer, author) and director Yusuke Hirota about the film "Poupelle of Chimney Town – The Promised Clock Tower." The first day concludes with a lecture by director Kenji Iwaisawa on the marketing strategy for animated films.
The second day begins with the free live drawing event "LIVE SAKUGA 'ChaO'." Afterwards, director Yasufumi Soejima and producer Koji Nishizawa talk about the unconventional production of the series "Goddess: What Do You Want to Be Reincarnated as in Another World? Me: With the Hero's Ribs." In the afternoon, the newly founded Studio Kurm celebrates its launch: animators Yoshitomo Kameda and Takahiro Hasui explain their creative philosophy. This is followed by presentations on the projects "Hanaryokisei no Akeru Hi" (director Yoshitoshi Shinomiya and art director Takumi Tanji) and a Creators Talk with Toko Yatabe (character designer for "Ghost Cat Anzu" and director of the new Evangelion series) and animation historian Masahiro Haraguchi.
For the first time, a job fair will be set up in the event area. There, visitors can speak directly with HR representatives from studios such as Trigger, Studio Deen, Orange, STUDIO4°C, and others. Admission to the venue is free, but tickets are required for the main stage programs. A two-day pass (16,200 yen) and day passes (8,250 yen each) are available. Advance sales start on June 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM via Ticket Pia. Additionally, there is a premium ticket for the conversation with Nishino and Hirota, which includes an exclusive after-talk dinner at the hotel (only 20 seats) for 18,000 yen.
Takashi Takahashi, chairman of the Musashino Chamber of Commerce and Industry, praised the growing importance of the event for the region in a statement and emphasized that over twenty local animation studios support the event. Further information can be found on the official website.
