The team behind the anime adaptation "Genso Suikoden" has released a new key visual that brings together the five main characters of the series. Shown are the protagonist Riliu, his friend Jowy, Nanami, Viktor, and Flik, each reaching out a hand of hope. Unlike earlier image visuals that highlighted individual scenes from the story, the new motif for the first time places the central characters together in the spotlight. Previously, the creators had shown Riliu and Jowy as members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, gazing at the night sky from their field camp, making a promise to reunite before a rock, or facing off against the antagonist Luca Blight.

Alongside the key visual, the visitor gift for the two-week advance premiere, which begins on August 21, was announced. In ten cinemas from Sapporo via Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Hiroshima to Fukuoka, the first three episodes will be shown on the big screen. As a thank-you, cinema-goers will receive one of eight randomly selected "character quote stickers," each designed with an illustration and a distinctive quote from the character. Featured are Riliu, Jowy, Nanami, Viktor, Flik, Luc, Luca Blight, and Jill Blight. On the back of the stickers, a QR code is printed. Those who scan it and then enter a serial number on the special page can listen to exclusive voice messages from the characters—ranging from words of thanks for attending the cinema to requests to imitate a pig.

The TV series starts in October 2026 on TOKYO MX, Kansai TV, BS Asahi, and other channels—in total, it will air on 32 stations nationwide. The first episode will be broadcast as a 60-minute special. The production adapts "Suikoden II," which is considered a particularly popular installment within the role-playing game series by Konami that began in 1995. Direction is by Yuzo Sato, with series composition by Michihiro Tsuchiya. Animation is handled by KONAMI animation, planning by NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan, and music composed by Koji Nakamura. The opening theme is the song "Kanashimi sae Otonabite" by amazarashi.

The main characters are voiced by Toshiki Kumagai (Riliu), Shimba Tsuchiya (Jowy), Ayumi Hinohara (Nanami), Katsuyuki Konishi (Viktor), and Yuichi Nakamura (Flik). Other roles include Taku Yashiro as Luca Blight, Chika Anzai as Jill Blight, Hitoshi Yamanoi as Agares Blight, Jun Kasama as Kurgan, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Seed, Megumi Han as Leknaat, Ayumu Murase as Luc, Takeo Otsuka as Shu, Yoshino Aoyama as Apple, and Miyuki Sawashiro as Anabel.

The protagonist bears the name Riliu, which was not given to him in the game original. Alongside the series, the manga adaptation "Genso Suikoden The Anime ~Honmono no Eiyu~" also launched in the magazine "Comic Dengeki Daioh" (issue 155), telling the story of Riliu and Jowy before the series premiere. "Suikoden II" originally appeared in 1998 for the PlayStation; in 2025, Konami released the HD remaster "Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars" for current consoles and PC.
