Anime "Kake Koi": Miyu Irino Covers the Opening by Motohiro Hata, Saori Hayami the Ending by Yui Sakurai (Videos and Comments)

The TV anime "Tōmei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi o Shita" – short "Kake Koi" – which is part of the summer 2026 season, has released two new music videos. In them, the main cast members Miyu Irino and Saori Hayami sing the series' theme songs in their roles: Irino, as the shy university student Kakeru Sorano, performs the opening "Hitohira" by Motohiro Hata, while Saori Hayami, as Koharu Fuyutsuki, takes on the ending "Hikari" by Yui Sakurai, who became known as a member of the idol group Fruits Zipper. Both videos are available via the anime's official channels.

The production of the covers was closely aligned with the series. In "Hitohira," Kakeru's overwhelming feelings for Koharu come to a head, while "Hikari" captures the carefree fluttering of Koharu's pure love for Kakeru. Irino's recording was made as a reduced piano version by Tomomi Yo, who had already arranged the original and also plays the piano part in the cover version. Motohiro Hata personally directed the recording.

"Kake Koi" is based on the light novel series by Nanigashi Shima with illustrations by raemz, which has been published by SB Creative under the imprint GA Bunko since August 2023; since August 2024, a manga adaptation by Hat has also been running in Square Enix's service Manga Up!. The story follows the reserved student Kakeru, who meets the blind fellow student Koharu and gradually grows closer to her. The anime adaptation by studio Makaria has been airing since July 6, 2026, on TOKYO MX, MBS, BS11, and AT-X – at AT-X additionally in a version with accessible audio description – and is streamed internationally by, among others, Crunchyroll. Direction is by Joe Yoshizaki, series composition by Yūko Kakihara, character design by Yoshihiro Sawada and Yūzuki Ishii, and music by Harumi Fuuki. The adaptation was announced in November 2025 together with a live-action adaptation; the drama series aired on Japanese television from December 2025 to February 2026.

The voice actors Miyu Irino and Saori Hayami commented on the releases. Irino expressed his honor at being able to record Hata's piece under the artist's own direction: the experience was both a reward and the greatest challenge of his singing career so far. Precisely because he had absorbed "Hitohira" while working on Kakeru's role, he hopes to have sung a version that only he could deliver as Kakeru; he invited listeners to immerse themselves in this world together with Tomomi Yo's piano arrangement. Hayami described "Hikari" as a very cute song that makes the heart beat faster through the interplay of lyrics and Yui Sakurai's voice. The song is closely woven into the story, which is why she sang it with thoughts of Koharu. Despite the calm mood, the piece is demanding because of its many notes – but that is precisely its charm, as the words reach the audience like a conversation. Finally, she recommended listening to the cover version alongside the ongoing series.

Both the opening and the ending are available as original songs via Universal Music, with the opening on AUGUSTA RECORDS; both are available on common streaming platforms. With the new cover versions, the production team expands the musical accompaniment while the series continues to air weekly.
