On June 3, 2026, the production team of the TV anime “Tomei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi o Shita” (short “Kakekoi”) released a new key visual depicting the central characters in a special composition. The image shows blind student Koharu Fuyutsuki and shy classmate Kakeru Sorano in an upside-down perspective: both lie on their backs, Kakeru looks over at Koharu while she reaches her hand toward him—a moment of longing captured with soft top lighting and a transparent background atmosphere. The visual language symbolizes the “almost touchable but unreachable” relationship between the two.

The underlying light novel by Shima Nanigashi (illustrations: raemz) won the Grand Prize of the 15th GA Bunko Awards and ranked third in the category of Overall New Works in “Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2024”. The story follows Kakeru Sorano, a reserved university student, and the blind, cheerful Koharu Fuyutsuki, who gradually grow closer. A live-action adaptation was already broadcast in December 2025.

Responsible for the anime adaptation are director Yuzuru Yoshizaki (“The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows”), series composer Yuko Kakihara (“The Apothecary Diaries”), and character designers Yoshihiro Sawada and Yuzuki Ishii. The music is by Harumi Fuuki; the ending song “Hikari” is contributed by Yui Sakurai (FRUITS ZIPPER). The main roles are voiced by Miyu Irino (Kakeru), Saori Hayami (Koharu), Konomi Kohara (Yuko Hayase), and Yohei Azakami (Ushio Narumi). The animation is produced at Studio Makaria.

The anime starts on July 6, 2026, on AT-X, TOKYO MX, and MBS, and one day later on BS11. Simultaneously with the linear broadcast, the series will be offered as a simulcast from July 6, each Monday at 10:00 PM, on streaming services dAnime Store, U-NEXT, and Anime Houdai; additional platforms follow from July 9. A manga adaptation by Hat with series concept by Seiichi Shiki is published by Square Enix.
