The main cast and a first teaser trailer have been revealed for the upcoming anime adaptation of the manga series "Red River" (Japanese "Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori") by Chie Shinohara. As announced by the producers, the series will begin airing in July 2026 on Japanese television on Nippon TV and BS NTV.

The lead role of Yuri will be played by Mirai Tachibana. The part of Prince Kail Mursili will be voiced by Wataru Kato. Hiroki Nanami will be heard both as the narrator and in the role of Yuri's friend Himuro. Furthermore, Nanami contributes the opening theme "Akatsuki no Sora," a song she wrote the lyrics for herself.

The approximately one-minute teaser shows how Yuri, a high school student living in the present day, is pulled into a pond during a date and awakens in the 14th century BC in the Hittite Empire. There, she faces the intrigues of Queen Nakia but is rescued by Prince Kail and eventually finds her path as a warrior.

The voice actors expressed their enthusiasm for their roles. Tachibana described Yuri as a "straightforward and brave character who does not shy away from difficult paths." Kato hopes that both long-time fans of the source material and newcomers will enjoy the adaptation.

The manga source material by Chie Shinohara was published from 1995 to 2002 in the magazine "Shojo Comic" and comprises 28 volumes. In Germany, the series was published under the title "Anatolia Story" by Egmont Manga. The adaptation is directed by Kosuke Kobayashi at Studio Tatsunoko Production, with series composition by Yoriko Tomita. To ensure historical accuracy, two experts from the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology, Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida, are involved as advisors.
