Anime "Thunder 3": Yuri contributes opening "Thunderbolt" – Fan event in Shibuya on July 8

The TV anime adaptation of Yuki Ikeda's manga "Thunder 3" has a prominent opening act. Singer-songwriter Yuri has written and produced the song "Thunderbolt" specifically for the series. The track will be presented to the public for the first time in the first episode on July 8, 2026, at 24:50 on Japanese television. Previously, the track had been kept secret even during an advance screening on June 28 in Shibuya. Parallel to the premiere, a special fan event will take place in Shibuya on the same day starting at 12:00 PM: Under the motto "Prepare for the shock of the lightning class on July 8!" original lightning-shaped fans will be distributed at MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 and in the surrounding streets. The event ends when supplies run out and is accompanied by appearances of the "Small 3" characters. The song will be released digitally on July 10, 2026 – surprisingly already announced at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles. There, visitors were able to hear the track in advance. Yuri himself comments: "I wrote the song with the 'Small 3' and the other characters in mind. It's meant to encourage – before thinking about whether something is wrong, just go for it and believe in yourself." The series will air from July 8 in the "+Ultra" programming block on Fuji Television. Additional broadcasts will follow on Kansai TV, Tokai TV, BS Fuji, and other channels. Simultaneously, "Thunder 3" will be streamed worldwide exclusively on Netflix. The ending theme is by artist Otoha with the title "Shururerira." The main roles are voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro (Pyontaro), Natsumi Kawaiida (Tsubame), Eri Akiyama (Hiroshi), and Honoka Mitsubachi (Futaba). The original manga of the same name was serialized in Kodansha's "Monthly Shonen Magazine" from May 2022 and gained significant attention on social media due to its unexpected plot development; it was even nominated for the "Next Manga Award 2022." The manga concluded with the issue of June 5, 2026. The animation series is produced by a studio not yet specified.
