Announcement of a three-part anime project by Nishigori and CloverWorks

For 2026, the anime film project „GROTESQQUE -グロテスク-“ was announced. Directed by Atsushi Nishigori, the animation is handled by the renowned studio CloverWorks. Already released teasers provide a first glimpse of the film’s dark, experimental atmosphere.

The project consists of three standalone segments, each set in its own world:

Eryians shows a young woman in intense colors alongside a mysterious creature.

Yoroshiku Shōjo transports viewers to a neon-lit city where girls clash in battles.

Nocturne begins with mundane scenes of four girls but quickly shifts into a oppressive, almost nightmarish mood marked by bloody imagery.

Director Atsushi Nishigori is known for titles such as „THE IDOLM@STER“ and „DARLING in the FRANXX“, while CloverWorks is behind successful productions like „WIND BREAKER“ and „SPY×FAMILY“. The unusual format of three independent narratives, each with its own tone and style, sets „GROTESQQUE“ apart from classic anime films. A theatrical release is planned for 2026.
