A new anime production with the Japanese title "Champignon no Machi" and the English designation "The Champignon Witch" is in preparation. The main character Luna is a young witch who suffers from a special physical characteristic: Her touches cause poisonous mushrooms to sprout, and even her breath contains toxic substances. The voice of this character is spoken by Shiraishi Haruka.

The cast also includes Sakakibara Yūki in the role of Rize. This character is injured by a knife attack, whereby the weapon is under a mystical curse. Luna's attempt to lift this curse has unexpected consequences: Rize's body shrinks and takes on the form of a boy.

A published main motif shows the characters in a fantastic forest landscape, surrounded by colorful mushrooms. A presented promotional video begins with Luna's description of a person of extraordinary purity. The plot develops further to the relationship between the witch and her unusual pupil, who is introduced to the magical arts.

Several specialists are responsible for the artistic direction. The direction of the series is taken over by Kubo Yūsuke, while the series concept comes from Kakihara Yūko. The character design is designed by Matsumoto Miki. The animation is created in joint work by the studios Taifū Graphics and Qzil.la.

For the announcement of the contributors, the voice actress Sakakibara commented in an official statement. Accompanying the release, a marketing campaign is taking place via the official online channels, in which hand-signed artworks of the voice actress are being raffled.
