Episode 3 begins with Shima being repeatedly rejected in his attempt to find a dance partner. Izumo and Bon, focused on their upcoming exams, show little interest in the festival celebrations. Izumo's girlfriend Noriko already has a dance partner. In a contrasting scenario, Bon accidentally upsets a girl by declining her invitation, while Yukio, busy with festival staff duties, politely turns down several girls.

The plot takes an unexpected turn when Shiemi, who previously wasn’t a student, enrolls at the academy. Her arrival surprises many, including Izumi, who unexpectedly has dinner with Noriko and Shiemi. Rin, who intends to ask Shiemi to dance, is shocked when Shiemi expresses her desire to invite Yukio instead. Shiemi’s decision isn’t based on romantic interest but rather on her wish to give Yukio a break from his stress.

Rin, misunderstanding Shiemi’s intentions, feels rejected and decides to work at the onigiri stand during the dance. Yukio, staying consistent in his behavior, declines Shiemi’s invitation just as he has with others. As a result, both Rin and Shiemi end up without dance partners.

Shiemi decides to participate in the haunted house and immerses herself in the experience. Noriko points out Rin’s obvious intention to ask Shiemi out and inquires about Shiemi’s romantic preferences between Rin and Yukio. However, Shiemi dismisses the idea of romance as premature.

Izumo, who harbors feelings for Rin but doesn’t act on them, isn’t asked to dance, likely because she shows no interest. Later, however, Rin asks her to help at the food stand and gives her an apron. Izumo, interpreting Rin’s words about trust differently, agrees to help but remains emotionally distant.

As the dance begins, Rin longs to dance with Shiemi. As if by magic, Shiemi appears in a stunning yukata, and Rin promptly asks her to dance. Shiemi, inwardly admitting she likes Rin, is surprised when Rin suggests they all dance together—including Yukio. The trio dances joyfully, sharing a moment of youthful happiness.

The episode ends with a foreboding twist. The Vatican reports Illuminati spies among the exorcists, one of them in the Japanese branch. Shura is tasked with uncovering the traitor, and suspicion falls on Takara Nemu. In a tense final scene, Izumo, dressed in Rin’s costume, encounters Nemu, who hands her a disturbingly familiar object—hinting at the impending escalation of events (see also the season’s title).
