Ao no Exorcist - Yuki no Hate-hen - Episode 4

Episode 4 focuses on Shura Kirigakure's past and her complex relationship with the demon Hachiro. After her mother's absence, Shura was raised by Hachiro and subjected to a strict Kirigakure-style upbringing, isolated from the world. Her life takes a turn when she meets Fujimoto, who saves her from the villagers and gives her the name "Shura Kirigakure."

In the present, Shura awakens under Hachiro's control, as he seeks to conceive a child with her to continue his lineage. Hachiro possesses hypnotic eyes that allow him to control others, and he insists that Shura is Tatsuko, the woman he once loved. Despite her protests, he refuses to accept her true identity.

Rin and Yukio Okumura arrive to rescue Shura but must face Hachiro's overwhelming power. During the confrontation, Yukio devises a plan by pretending to betray Rin and Shura. He offers Hachiro a deal, demanding his regenerative abilities in exchange for ensuring Hachiro's continued existence himself. Hachiro agrees and dissolves his contract with Shura.

Yukio and Rin seize this moment to launch an attack. Enraged by the betrayal, Hachiro transforms into a massive hydra, unleashes a violent blizzard, and uses his hypnotic powers to incapacitate Rin. Shima joins the two to assist, but the situation remains dire.

Shura realizes the gravity of the situation and decides to sacrifice herself to stop Hachiro. She accepts that she doesn't know how to live freely after being bound for so long and chooses to accompany Hachiro into the depths of the lake. As they sink together, the blizzard subsides, and Rin, Yukio, and Shima are left to watch as Hachiro disappears.
