In Episode 7, Lightning intensifies his investigations into exorcists who left the Japanese Section after the Blue Night. He questions the former exorcists Mr. Nagatomo, Mr. Kyodo, and Mr. Misumi. Under pressure, Misumi confesses his connection to Section 13 and mentions the Elixir, a drug for eternal youth, before suddenly dying due to a Morinath contract—a binding agreement that enforces secrecy.

Determined to uncover the truth, Lightning confronts Mephisto about the unauthorized contracts and the existence of Section 13. Mephisto evades but gives a cryptic hint: "All you need to do is hold the key in your hand." Lightning and his apprentice Ryuji Suguro decipher this clue, leading them to the old exorcist training school, known as the "Asylum," which was closed after the Blue Night.

At the Asylum, they uncover evidence of illegal human experiments conducted by Section 13 to clone the Demon Kings—including Lucifer and Amaimon—and create new vessels for them. Mephisto appears and recounts the history of the Baal, the Demon Kings who sought to take physical forms as human culture progressed. He explains that their bodies rapidly decay, prompting them to initiate clone and Elixir research, which led to cruel experiments and ultimately the birth of Satan.

Mephisto reveals that Satan's creation and the possession of a powerful, enhanced human triggered the catastrophic Blue Night, resulting in the destruction of the research lab and the deaths of many involved. He informs them that Lucifer has secretly continued the Elixir research and hints at a traitor within the Order of the True Cross.
