In a new promotional video, the second TV anime season of Ryo Shirakome's light novel series Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest (Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō) has been announced.

The new season will feature a new director and a new studio. Akira Iwanaga (Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee, The Morose Mononokean) will direct the anime at asread (which animated the first season alongside WHITE FOX) and Studio Mother. Shoichi Sato returns to oversee and write the series scripts. Chika Kojima is once again serving as character designer and chief animation director.

The new season will premiere in January 2022.

Funimation describes the story as follows:

Hajime Nagumo and his high school class are suddenly summoned as heroes to a fantasy world. But while most of his classmates possess powerful stats and abilities, Hajime does not. Underestimated and unprepared, he plunges into the depths of a monster-infested dungeon, where devouring and sacrifice are his only options. To survive in this savage world, he has no choice but to embrace the abyss.
