Atelier Ryza - Episode 3

In Episode 3 of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, Ryza receives a staff from Empel that was used for synthesis in a previous episode. Afterwards, Ryza is tasked by her mother to run an errand to Mr. Pats. On the way there, she meets Klaudia, who tells her something about alchemy.

Ryza visits Mr. Pats, who thanks her for delivering a package and informs her that he plans to resume his dyeing business. He also mentions that he once made a dress for Ryza but currently lacks a specific fabric to continue his craft. Ryza offers to produce the needed fabric through alchemy.

Next, Ryza visits Klaudia, who greets her with some baked goods and shows her a flute. Klaudia admits that she has been secretly practicing the flute in the forest. Although she doesn’t give a concrete reason for keeping this hidden from her father, she expresses her desire to play for Ryza someday.

Ryza helps Mrs. Barbara by providing her with ointment for her leg. Mrs. Barbara reveals that she, along with Pat and Walther, used to be an adventurer trio in the past. She also recalls the scent of a flower she received in a congratulatory letter on her wedding day. Encouraged by Mrs. Barbara’s story, Ryza decides to find the flower and, with Empel’s permission and Lila’s company, sets off for the Fairy Forest.

Despite an initial battle, they find the flower thanks to a stray goat that leads them to it. When Ryza presents the flower to Mrs. Barbara, she realizes it no longer smells the way she remembered. Nevertheless, Ryza remains determined to find the right flower.

Later, at Mr. Pats’ place, Klaudia identifies a scent from the Delphi Rose incense stick, which is used for making custom-tailored clothing. When Mr. Pat can no longer remember whether he sent the congratulatory letter to Mrs. Barbara, Ryza decides to restore the Delphi Rose incense scent through alchemy.

Upon discovering that the method for synthesizing the incense is not in Empel’s collection book, she asks him for advice. Empel provides Ryza with a rare material necessary for crafting the incense. Ryza successfully creates the Delphi Rose incense stick and gives it to Mrs. Barbara, who confirms that it is the scent she remembers. Mrs. Barbara then plans to personally thank Mr. Pat for the letter.

The episode ends with Klaudia playing her flute for Ryza on a cliff, and Mrs. Barbara placing the flower on Walther’s grave. Meanwhile, Ryza assures Klaudia that she is now part of their adventurer team.
