The upcoming TV anime "The Tale of the Girl Who Couldn't Become a Sorceress" has been announced and is set to air in October.

This anime is the grand prize winner in the "Isekai/Fantasy" category of the second edition of the ANIMA project, which aims to produce original anime for the 2020s. The project is divided into three categories: "SF/Robots," "Isekai/Fantasy," and "Children/Games," with selected works eligible for TV anime adaptations, book publications, manga adaptations, and game developments.

"The Tale of the Girl Who Couldn't Become a Sorceress" is a fantasy school story about the growth of two girls who couldn't fulfill their dream of becoming sorceresses and their friendship with unique classmates at a magic school. Originally written by Yuuki Akasaka and published on the novel website Evarysta, the story is now being developed into an original anime.

Takashi Watanabe, known for his work on fantasy series like "Slayers" and "Shakugan no Shana," will serve as chief director. Masato Matsune, known for "WIXOSS DIVA(A)LIVE" and "The Seven Magical Swords," will direct. The script and series composition are handled by Hiroko Kanasugi, known for "Mewkledreamy" and "Cheat Pharmacist's Slow Life." Animation production will be handled by J.C.STAFF. Alongside the announcement, comments from original creator Akasaka, chief director Watanabe, director Matsune, and Kanasugi were also released.

The first promotional video features watercolor-like visuals and a memorable character voice saying, "Mr. Sorcerer... I'm sorry, I couldn't keep my promise." Further details, including cast information, are expected to be announced in the spring.
